Medicare physician payments increased July 1

By: CMA

On July 1, 2015, a 0.5 percent physician payment increase went into effect. This mid-year increase is a result of the Medicare payment reform legislation passed by Congress in April (the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act). The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services released the updated relative value unit files reflecting the payment increase and new conversion factor, $35.9335 (previously $35.7547). Noridian, the Medicare Administrative Contractor for California, has posted the new fee schedule, which will be in effect from July 1 through December 31, 2015. The next 0.5 percent payment increase is scheduled for January 1, 2016.

For additional information, please visit the Medicare Physician Fee Schedules section on the Noridian website.
